Hayfever

I guess one of Selkirk's great contributions to my life was discovering that I have hayfever. Most of my memories from the camp as a kid (I was young and I do have a terrible long-term memory for details) relate to my allergies.

One of the most vivid memories would definately be from Cub Camp one year - no clue which one. We played capture the flag out in one of the fields of long grass...it was along the trail out to the woods, but on the opposite side of the camp from the lagoons...anyways... I can remember running around in there for quite a while before stumbling out of the grass completely blind because my eyes had swollen shut. Of course this was of particular concern to the leaders because my parents were the camp directors...he escorted me back to their trailer and rather nervously explained "There's something wrong with your son..." This of course led to yet another prolonged session of lying on the couch with a cool clothe over my eyes with the air conditioner on high...

I kind of wish I had pictures...I'm sure it would have looked rather amusing...at least 15 years later...

I don't have any pictures but I do remember the whites of your eyes swelling up so much they looked like they were going to cover over your pupils.
