I always loved Music Camp - especially Junior Music Camp. The kids were great, the faculty was great and usually the weather was great.

Established in 1948 by Colonel Joseph Acton, Camp Selkirk was the home to camping ministries in Southern Ontario. It was the site of spiritual, emotional and personal growth for many. Based on 124 acres this residential camp is remembered for many things, some of which are recorded here.

Singing grace in the Dining Hall! Isn't that everyone's best memory of Music Camp?
Lindsay Gray (Cambridge/Guelph) is 3rd in from the left playing cornet in that picture!
I am sending a message from my cousin Fiona Hopkins(nee: Kinghorn)who is currently living in england for a year with her husband Duncan Hopkins and their two children. I told her about the site and she was excited about it. Her email is thewife@duncanhopkins.com she says hi to everyone.

The lovely Fiona who came to camp to lose her voice every year!
A favourite memory of Music Camp? For many of us, Les Dix would factor into those memories.
My best memory is my Uncle Dale Haskell picking me up and carrying me out of my theory exam (I was 7) because I was crying really hard because I didn't know anything! My Uncle Dale's health isn't great now and to think that he had the physical strength to carry me out amazes me.
On a lighter note, I also loved the hay rides!

Janice Brinson sent me the blog site and reading it I did find a cute picture of my daughter from so many years ago!!
By the way, she is still just as cute! Thanks for the posting of the pic.

Ah, who can forget the Junior Music Camp hayride which always turned into a waterfight between the staff and faculty?!
Long live the Swamp Monster!!

Ahh Hay rides. I remember one such hay ride at a Teen Camp when I got over 30 burrs stuck in my hair. Carla Sturge (the good friend :-) sat and picked them all out for me!
I remember spending 3 wonderful years in Level 2 theory, with Glen Reynolds as my teacher. I didn't keep failing each year because I didn't learn the book. I just heard that Glen was coming to camp the following year and wanted to give hin that sense of familiarity in his class. When I did finally pass, it was because he was retiring (I Think). You'l be glad to know that at 35 yrs. old. I made it to Level 4!!!!!!!!!!
