Talent Night

One of the things I really enjoyed about SMC was talent night in the old auditorium. Photos below showcased the talent from SMC 1994. Do you recognize who these individuals are and can you name them? Do you remember what was happening in each of these photos? Let us know! What favorite memory do you have from talent night?

In the last picture I can see:
- Iain Chalmers and his friend Chris, from England
- Jeff Vize
- Is that Mark at the mic?
This picture is so dark it's hard to tell. What were you guys singing?

That looks like Scott Marshall with the microphone in the middle photo - don't ever remember him being a singing kind of guy, though!

Talent night fav? How about WORST? When Jon Evans (now my brother-in-law) had the brilliant idea of doing a skit that actually involved having the participants urinate on stage. Man, I was sitting near the front and gagged when I smelled his urine! Jon was banned from participating in future talent/skit nights! I actually found the whole thing kinda funny, but some others were far less than impressed. Thank the Lord they decided to put a tarp on the floor for the skit!

To his credit, Jon was a part of some pretty funny skits in previous years doing Chris Farley impressions, if I remember correctly.

I remember the pee night! That was disgusting! I remember Jason Dockeray's parents weren't too impressed with him for doing that, either...

I remember one year when Craig Lewis and Mark Sturge (I think? or was it Lorne Barry?) sang "500 miles", I think it was 1993...

My favorite true talent item, though, was KK Allen singing "In the Arms of the Angel" (changed to "In the Arms of The Saviour"). It was beautiful.

Maybe I'm crazy but wasn't Scott Marshall doing "Achy Breaky Heart"? I don't remember for sure but I know someone did and I remember my cabin of girls rushed the stage like we were groupies for this performance.

Yes, that is my son Scott and for sure he has never been a singer. He is still living in Hamilton, married and his wife has a 12 year old daughter.

Scott was singing an Elvis song in that picture!

My group were all playing "Moses Get Down!" on our mouthpieces, a popular item from DYB days.

In the first photo you can see Roger, John, Dawn Pinson, Jeff King, and Stephanie Webb.
